WHY BUY THIS?In 2002, Banksy contributed to an Anti War group (portfolio) of prints by leading artists. Ralph Steadman was the most famous. The Boxed Set was £300 - and I took the Banksy to a few groups to say I think this is a great investment, as he is getting a good following and is a leader of the type of art - Originally called graffiti, then Street Art, now "Urban Art".This print is now £15,000 - It is one of his earliest, most iconic images and every Banksy collector wants a copy. Whereas for some time collectors wanted Anything by him, now the collectors are more interested in important pieces as they appreciate quickest / as seen in the two major sales at Sotheby's & Christies this week. Pieces with wit, humour and style are more collectable and therefore appreciate best. The size of the Self Portrait for Time Out is not a problem. David Hockney created an edition of 10,000 prints called " A Bounce for Bradford " in the Royal Academy in 1987 . It sold out in minutes. Initial cost was 18p. A short while ago, one sold at Bonhams at £360 - a COMPOUND INTEREST OF 50%! |
THIS is a LIMITED EDITION poster. 5000 were printed but Time Out posted most out FOLDED in with the magazine, then they phoned me for a tube supplier - I gave them a number but as the money was going to Haiti - they purchased the SMALLEST Tubes, so the posters arrived damaged.
FORTUNATLY, mine were direct from the printer - so MINT. EACH one comes with a Signed Certificate from the Gallery, the CERTIFICATE is Numbered, the print is not.
